X-Ray Diffractometer

The XRD supports NMSU researchers in the latest materials analysis techniques.

CURRL has three laboratories:

MICS-Microscopic Imaging Core Suite, MMAS-MOLB Molecular Analysis Services, and XRD-X-Ray Diffractometer

X-Ray Diffractometer Regulations

  • All users of the XRD are required to comply with the Environmental Health and Safety policy (www.nmsu.edu/~safety/policy-link.htm) of the University.
  • Access to the microscope systems is scheduled through reservations entered on-line at http://xrd.research.nmsu.edu/XRDcalendar
  • A maximum of two time-slots in advance can be scheduled. Special arrangements can be made by email (dptru10@nmsu.edu) or by calling the lab at 575-646-xxxx.
  • All users must be trained to operate the XRD by the Director or a Principal Investigator.  In addition, users must have completed the university's radiation training course; more information about NMSU radiation safety is at http://safety.nmsu.edu/programs/rad_safety/rad_safety_questions.htm.   
  • All users must record their session in the log book adjacent to the instrument.
  • Fees for use of the instrument are compiled from log entries each calendar month.  Use of the instrument is billed at $20/hour.
